Men's Health & Women's Health mobile apps launch on Pugpig Bolt

The UK’s market leading wellness titles, Men’s Health and Women’s Health, have revamped and relaunched their apps on Pugpig Bolt with 10 more Hearst titles in the pipeline.

Both apps underwent a huge transformation and are part of an enhanced membership proposition for Hearst, with exclusive in-app training plans and wellness advice from some of the world’s leading fitness experts being one of the key focuses.

In dedicated training sections of the apps, members can follow a range of in-app training plans with daily guided workouts, a timer, progress notes, plus behind the scenes content, podcasts and more.

The apps, which were purely edition-led before the revamp, also have brand new content timelines featuring a ‘five things you need to know today’ sideways scroller and a variety of engaging content layouts surface the latest wellness content.

There’s also a section for their monthly digital editions plus content timelines exclusively for premium members in order to drive subscriptions.

Our Professional Services team worked closely with the team at Hearst to conceptualise, iterate on, develop, build and launch both apps, and we’re extremely pleased with how they’ve turned out.

The remaining titles set for relaunch in January are Elle, Runner’s World, Esquire, Prima, Harper’s Bazaar, Elle Decoration, Cosmopolitan, House Beautiful, Country Living and Good Housekeeping.

Both apps are taking advantage of various integrations including AuthX to manage subscriptions and OneTrust for consent management.

David Robinson, Chief Customer Officer at Hearst UK said:

“We’re constantly looking at different ways we can bring our brands to life with new and exciting propositions. The new apps and enhanced membership offerings will allow us to create even stronger and deeper relationships with existing and new members, whilst building more opportunities for the future with premium content that people want to pay for.”

Izzy Hambley, Senior Executive of Memberships Development at Hearst UK said:

“Pugpig has played a fundamental part in helping support our company strategy by elevating our digital products which encourages customers to subscribe directly through us as we’re giving them better products and more choice. Pugpig is a wonderful company to work with and cater for all your requirements.”

Jonny Kaldor, CEO at Pugpig said:

“It’s been such a great experience working hand in hand with everyone on the Hearst team and we’re hugely proud of the outcome – memberships apps that go way beyond simply delivering content. We’re going to see more and more apps like this becoming a vital element of publishers’ direct to consumer strategy. Watch this space…”

There’s lots coming up for Hearst and Pugpig in the new year – as well as the remaining app launches we’ll be scoping out the roadmap for phase two of work on the Men’s Health & Women’s Health apps.
