The Philippine Daily Inquirer mobile app on Pugpig Bolt

Philippine Daily Inquirer, the nation’s most-read broadsheet, has launched its new app on Pugpig Bolt. This move is part of their strategy to bring together the print and digital parts of their business – Philippine Daily Inquirer and Inquirer.net.

As well as content from both the website and the printed newspaper, the app also features video, podcasts, puzzles and leverages Bolt’s Google Ad Manager and Amazon Polly integrations for ads and text-to-speech, which is available on all articles.

The app also surfaces subscriber-only content in its own timeline to drive subscriptions to their premium offering, Inquirer Plus. This premium content is gated behind a metered paywall, driven by Leaky Paywall.

Inquirer is the latest news media title in the APAC region to launch on Pugpig Bolt, joining brands such as Nikkei Asia and Australian Community Media (ACM).
