The Bulwark has launched a dedicated mobile app on Pugpig Bolt, giving its growing Substack audience a fully branded place to read, watch and listen. Articles, podcasts, video and commenting now live together in one focused experience, designed to build daily habit.
4th March 2026
The Bulwark, the fast-growing US political publication with nearly 90,000 paid Substack subscribers, has launched a dedicated mobile app on Pugpig Bolt.
The app opens up a brand new owned channel for The Bulwark, whose content was previously only available on mobile via the Substack app and YouTube.
A key driver behind launching a dedicated The Bulwark app was subscriber feedback – their most loyal subscribers wanted a product that felt unmistakably Bulwark – as well as the ability to support video and podcast content in the app alongside the latest stories.

Subscribers can catch-up on their favourite Bulwark shows with seamless native video, including casting and picture in picture playback – or simply listen via Bolt’s fully integrated native audio.
The app uses our recently-released user-driven personalisation functionality, Follow. Users can curate a personalised timeline based on authors and topics they care most about, driving engagement and building strong habit.
This standout launch is a great example of how Substack publishers can harness the power of a premium, branded mobile app that integrates directly with their existing Substack workflow (take a look at the app we launched for The Free Press in the summer of 2025).
We’re constantly tightening our Substack integration to make this process as seamless as possible and look forward to seeing more Substack publishers joining The Bulwark and The Free Press on our platform in 2026.
Get in touch if you’re a Substack publisher and you’d like to chat – we’d love to hear from you.
The Bulwark is now available to download on Android and iOS – scan below to take a look!
