Hat trick of nominations for Pugpig at the PPA Awards

We are so pleased to say that all three of our PPA 2020 Awards entries were worthy of the shortlist nod and we’re over the moon thrilled at this achievement!

PPA Awards 2020

Monday, the 18th of May started off as any other Monday in quarantine – the virtual stand-ups, the guzzling of coffee, the Kick off the Week presentation from team leads as we plan for the days ahead. But moments after our team virtually dispersed – bing – the email we had been waiting weeks for. The PPA Awards Shortlist arrived! We are so pleased to say that all three of our entries were worthy of the shortlist nod and we’re over the moon thrilled at this achievement!

Our nominations are in categories that are near and dear to our heart. The category for Pugpig as technology partner to the UK publishing industry is Industry Partner of the Year. We’re so proud to be shortlisted for this category again as it really highlights the efforts we have made to expand our services to new media clients in the UK. But beyond that, we’ve expanded our own product line in partnership with key organisations – Site was born last year and we’re so pleased to be developing, maintaining and supporting websites for publishers large and small.

An example of how we’ve used our Site websites and Bolt mobile app products is crystallised in our nomination for Commercial Initiative of the Year in that Tortoise Media is powered by Pugpig. In the past 18 months we’ve worked diligently with the superb leadership and editorial teams at Tortoise to support their philosophy of open newsrooms and community driven journalism by building cutting-edge digital products to make their intelligent and informed membership coming back for more news, events, podcasts and more. In light of the current global situation, Tortoise ThinkIn events are attracting thousands of people to participate in their innovative approach to slow news digitally.

Our final nomination highlights a woman who has worked in creating over 300 publishing apps, all while working for the same company. And we are fairly certain that there is only one person in the publishing industry who is titled as ‘Minister Without Portfolio’ due to the sheer inability to capture the depth and breadth of everything that she does. Our hundred customers know that this phenom is Emillie Ruston, and we’re so proud that she has gotten formally recognised for all that she does as a PPA Shortlist candidate for Unsung Hero of the Year.

While we absolutely would love to party with our colleagues, customers and friends in person, we are really looking forward to the virtual PPA awards celebration on Tuesday, the 30th of June. Many thanks to the team at the PPA for adapting to the situation and proceeding safely with what is sure to be a memorable event for us at Pugpig. Cheers to all!
